Thai-to-English Translation

น หนู

นกน้อยทำรังแต่พอตัว = Cut your coat according to your cloth(es).

นานาจิตตัง = Everyone to his taste.

นารีงามสรรพเมื่อดับเทียน = All cats are grey in the dark.

น้ำกลิ้งบนใบบอน (also: น้ำกลิ้งบนใบบัว) = A rolling stone gathers no moss.

น้ำขึ้นให้รีบตัก = Gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Hoist your sail when the wind is fair. Make have while the sun shines. (Cf.: Carpe diem)

น้ำเชี่ยวอย่าขวางเรือ = Better bend than break. It is ill striving against the stream. Don't try crossing the river if the current's strong.

น้ำน้อยย่อมแพ้ไฟ = "If you don't have a lot of water, don't try putting out a fire." Don't get into a conflict unless you've got plenty of power.

น้ำนิ่งไหลลึก = Still waters run deep.

น้ำมาปลากินมด น้ำลดมดกินปลา = When the water rises the fish eat the ants, when the water falls the ants eat the fish.

น้ำร้อนปลาเป็น น้ำเย็นปลาตาย = Flies are easily caught with honey. It's easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar.

นุ่งเจียม ห่มเจียม = Cut your coat according to your cloth(es).
